COVID-19 challenged us, we accepted the dare and emerged victorious: PM

Bhopal, Aug 7 (UNI) Even as the world continues to stage an epic war against the ‘millennium scourge’, Premier Narendra Modi said on Saturday that the lockdown – which had to be imposed for safeguarding citizens against the novel coronavirus – spawned challenges of its own but “we confronted them” unitedly and effectively.
“Irrespective of the nature of the gauntlet thrown, unity is indeed the key to success. About 80 crore indigent citizens were provided free food grain. An indigenous vaccine was developed and – as of Friday – in excess of 50 crore doses have been administered, which is a noteworthy achievement and a crucial step in the direction of achieving our cherished goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat,” the apex leader stated via video conferencing from the national capital while addressing the commencement of the Anna Utsav in Madhya Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.
