COVID: India reports 41,806 cases, 581 deaths in past 24 hrs

New Delhi, Jul 15 (UNI) India reported 41,806 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours pushing the case tally to 3,09,87,880, while the death toll mounted to 4,11,989 with 581 more fatalities, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday.

According to the ministry, the active cases rose by 2,095 to stand at 4,32,041. It is now 1.39 per cent of the total caseload.

The past 24 hours saw 39,130 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 3,01,43,850, which is 97.28 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.33 per cent.

The daily positivity has remained less than 3 per cent for the last 24 days. It was recorded at 2.15 per cent in the past one day.

Of the fresh fatalities, maximum 170 were reported from Maharashtra followed by 128 in Kerala, 65 in Odisha, 55 in Tamil Nadu, 45 in Karnataka, 22 in Assam and so on.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 43,80,11,958 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Of this, 19,43,488 were tested on Wednesday.

Till now, 39,13,40,491 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccines, with 34,97,058 being inoculated against the virus in the past 24 hours.
