DAK lauds contribution of nurses in fight against Covid-19

Srinagar, May 12: On International Nurses Day, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Wednesday lauded the exemplary contribution of the nurses in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

Hailing nurses for their selfless services and spirited fight against Covid, DAK President Dr Nisar ul Hassan said they have been working tirelessly since day one of the pandemic.

“They have been toiling round the clock and saving lives by putting themselves in danger,” he said.

“Working quietly behind scenes, nurses have been caring for Covid patients and consoling their relatives,” Dr Hassan said.

He said they are working day in and day out without proper food and beyond shift hours.

Dr Hassan said nurses and other medical staff are working in very very harsh conditions and the equipment they wear are very uncomfortable.

“Their kindness, compassion and empathy has made a difference in the lives of so many patients,” he said.

The DAK President said nursing staff are the backbone of the health sector. Their utmost commitment to keep people safe and healthy in these challenging times is truly exceptional.

“It was unimaginable for any health system to cope with such a huge health crisis, but the strong will of these brave hearts made it possible,” he said.

“We are indebted to the dedication and professionalism shown by our nurses in their line of duty,” Dr Nisar said.

“I thank and salute each and every one of them for their hard work and dedication,” he said.

“May 12 is of special significance the world over as it marks the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the iconic British social reformer who is also called the founder of modern nursing.

Celebrated since 1965 as International Nurses Day, this day lauds the humanitarian work done by nurses across the world.

This year, however, the significance of the day is extremely crucial as nurses and the medical fraternity have become the beacon of hope against the deadly coronavirus pandemic plaguing the world,” said Dr Nisar.
