36 More Covid-19 Deaths In J&K, Toll Nears 2600;

Srinagar, May 7 : Jammu and Kashmir lost 36 more people to the covid-19 since last evening, taking the fatality count due to the virus to 2598 in J&K, officials said on Friday. 268 deaths were reported so far this month alone, they said.

Among the fresh fatalities, they said, nineteen deaths took place in GMC Jammu and remaining in various hospitals of Kashmir Valley.

Among others, the officials told GNS that the victims include a 61-year-old man from Dalgate Srinagar who died 12 days after he was admitted to SMHS hospital.

A 78-year-old man from Rambail Pora, Anantanag, died at CD hospital, four days after he was admitted to one of the exclusive facilities for the management of the covid-19 patients in the Valley.

A 70-year-old man died at GMC Anantnag, three days after he was admitted there.
A 60-year-old man from Naibasti died within few hours of his admission to GMC, they said.

A 72-year-odl man from Janglatmandi died two days after he was admitted to the facility, they said.

A 55-year-old woman from Boniyar Baramulla died due to cardiopulmonary arrest while suffering from severe Covid Pneumonia with HTN with T2DM, they said.

The other victims include an 80-year-old from Pulwama, a 68-year-old man from Makhdoom Sahib Srinagar, a 70-year-old man from Babhara Pulwama, an 80-year-old woman from Pinglish Tral, A 68-year-old man from Mallabagh Srinagar, A 65-year-old from Illahibagh Srinagar, 80-year-old man from Safapora Ganderbal, a 60-year-old man from Illahi-Bagh, and a septuagenarian man from Sumbal Bandipora.

J&K has seen unrelenting surge in the cases as well as the fatalities. On Thursday, the government said a record 4926 new positive cases were confirmed, taking the total number of positive cases to 201511.

As many as 52 Covid-19 deaths were also reported on May 6. Out of total cases, 41666 are active positive—14686 in Jammu and 26980 in Kashmir. (GNS)
