India reports record 3,49,691 cases, 2767 deaths in past 24 hrs

New Delhi, Apr 25 (UNI) India registered 3,49,691 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 2767 casualties in the past 24 hours, the highest single-day spike in terms of cases and deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic, according to the data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday morning.

The fresh addition took the total tally to 1,69,60,172 while the death toll soared to 1,92,311.Of the fresh casualties, maximum 676 were from Maharashtra, followed by 357 from Delhi, 222 from Uttar Pradesh, 218 from Chhattisgarh and 208 from Karnataka.

The active caseload in the country is 26,82,751 comprising 15.82 per cent of the total infections while 1,40,85,110 people have recovered from disease so far amounting 83.05 per cent of recovery rate. The case fatality rate stands at 1.13 per cent.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 27,79,18,810 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Out of this, 17,19,588 were tested in the past one day.

On the vaccination front, a total of 14,09,16,417 people have been vaccinated across the country till now.
