Rajya Sabha adjourned till 1400 hrs amid Oppn sloganeering

New Delhi, Mar 9 : The proceedings of the Rajya Sabha were again adjourned till 1400 hrs amid Opposition sloganeering who wanted to discuss the fuel price hike in the country.

Soon after the House re- assembled at 1200 hrs after first adjournment, Deputy Chairman Harivansh appealed to the Opposition Bench to cooperate for smooth proceeding and also reiterated that adjournment notices moved by Opposition parties, including Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge have been rejected.

In a bid to placate the agitating Opposition Members, the Deputy Chairman said to Leader of Opposition, “You are a senior Member and seasoned leader, you know the rules of the House and once the any notice which has been rejected by the Chairman cannot be revisited”.

He then initiated the ‘Question Hour amidst sloganeering.

The Union Minister for Health and Family affairs was asked to give his reply on health related issues but the Opposition Members continued to protest and kept on raising slogans.

Despite repeated appeals of Mr Harivansh, the Opposition was not ready to relent,so he adjourned the House till 1400 hrs.
