COVID: India records 15,388 cases

New Delhi, Mar 9:  With the detection of 15,388 new coronavirus cases, the total number of infections in the country has reached 1,08,99,394, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare update said on Monday.

The death toll from the disease has reached 1,57,930, with 77 new fatalities being recorded over the past day.

The country has recorded 16,596 discharges, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,08,99,394, which leads to a national COVID-19 recovery rate of 96.93 per cent, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.40 per cent, as per the health ministry update.

India comes second in terms of the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases, following the United States, with 2,90,80,204 COVID-19 patients.

India has now registered 25,99,046 vaccinations with 66,666 more vaccinations administered in the last 24 hours.

The World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic on March 11. To date, at least 11,71,12,797 people have been infected with the coronavirus worldwide, with over 25,99,046 fatalities, according to Johns Hopkins University.
