Covid-19: 12 non locals among 25 test positive, toll reaches 270 in J&K

All suspected contacts traced in Jammu division: Nodal officer Jammu, Contact tracing process still on in Kashmir: Nodal officer Kashmir

Srinagar, April 13: Twenty-five new that include 12 non-locals Coronavirus cases were tested positive in Kashmir division on Monday taking the toll of total positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory to 270.

Officials said with new 25 positive cases, toll of total number of positive cases stands at 270 including 07 recoveries and 03 deaths while as toll in Jammu division stands at 48 including 09 recoveries and one death.

“25 more test positive today in Kashmir. Total in J&K is 270. Further details awaited,” tweeted Government spokesman Rohit Kansal.

Officials said that among the 25 new positive cases, 13 positive cases were confirmed at CD hospital, among them 12 are non-local residents belonging to Tableegi Jammat and are from Delhi, Gujrat and Kelera.

“While we attend every case with same attention, gladly there’s no local Covid +ve for 3rd day. Sadly, 12 new reported today, all from same group of outsiders who’ve been in quarantine since Mar 27. #Srinagar needs to continue with precautions, patience, and no panic,” Tweeted Dr Shahid Choudary, District Magistrate Srinagar,

Dr G H Yatoo, Nodal officer for coronavirus at SKIMS told KNO that 12 positive cases were confirmed today at SKIMS lab, among them 9 are from Bandipora and 03 from Baramulla.

“Four more suspected were admitted at the Institute whose samples have been taken and results are expected to come tomorrow,” he said.

Deputy medical superintendent JLNM hospital told KNO that after discharging two siblings, 20 positive patients are undergoing treatment at the hospital while as Dr Naveed Ahmad Shah Head of Department Chest Disease Hospital Srinagar said that no need patient was added to the hospital today and number of positive patients undergoing treatment at CD hospital stands at 23.

Medical superintendent GMC Anantnag Dr Majid Mehrab told KNO that 270 have been taken at GMC Anantnag so far, among them reports of 60 samples are awaited.

Officials from district hospital Pulwama said that 72 more samples were taken today at DH Pulwama while as officials from Kupwara said that all 49 samples of Kupwara have tested negative.

Nodal officer for covid-19 Jammu division Dr Rakesh K Sangral that authorities in Jammu division have traced all suspected contacts of covid-19 including the contacts of positive patients.

Dr Qazi Masood Nodal officer of covid-19 Kashmir division told KNO that the contact tracing process is Kashmir division is still going on as most people in Kashmir are not cooperating with authorities.

“Many people in Kashmir have concealing travel history till they developed symptoms due to which it is taking authorities to trace all suspected contacts,” he said.

He appealed people of Kashmir to cooperate with the administration and help us in stopping the spread of covid-19.

In Jammu division, 21 including three recoveries are from Jammu district , 19 including one death and four recoveries are from Udhampur, 4 from Samba and 3 from Rajouri including one recovery and one from Kishtiwar who has also recovered.

As per the daily information bulletin 53,679persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 8,581 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 250 persons are in hospital isolation while as 354 persons are under hospital quarantine.

According to the bulletin, 13,856 persons have completed surveillance period and 30,634 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 4,065 samples are available.

Out of 4,065 the number of samples tested negative stands at 3,795 while as 270 have been tested positive, among them 250 are active
