Nagaland conducts state-level ToT of Coronavirus

Kohima, Mar 12: Nagaland Directorate of Health and Family Welfare has conducted
a state-level Training of Trainers (ToTs) to tackle the Coronavirus (COVID-19) at the
conference hall of the Directorate department on Wednesday.
According to official sources today, the State Nodal Officer of the Integrated Disease
Surveillance Programme Dr. Nyanthung Kikon said that five people have been
quarantined at home in suspect with the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in Nagaland,
however, no Coronavirus cases have been detected in the state so far.
He informed that TOT programme on the Coronavirus for district-level trainers, armed
forces, disaster response force and officials of the Health Department, organised by the
Nagaland Department of Health and Family Welfare.
Earlier, in the keynote address Principal Director Dr. Vizolie Z. Suokhrie stressed on
the need to have preparedness and response plan in place by all the districts as a
step up plan in response to COVID-19.
Further, he said intensive awareness campaign will have to be carried out to send
across correct information, dispelling myths, rumours and to allay the fears of the
people with regard to COVID-19.
He maintained that hand hygiene and respiratory etiquettes remain the cornerstone
in prevention and control of COVID-19. Topics included at the training was on infection
prevention and control, environmental cleaning, disinfection and bio-medical waste
management, clinical case management, risk communication & community engagement,
hospital preparedness and non-pharmaceutical interventions.
The training programme was attended by the district level trainers of all the districts,
the armed forces and the disaster response force. Altogether, 81 participants attended
the training programme, sources said.
