Goa CM asks people entering govt service to work sincerely, look after dependents

Panaji, : Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has asked people entering into government service to be sincere and have a humanitarian approach when dealing with the public.
Speaking at a function where letters of appointment of candidates to government service on compassionate ground were distributed to beneficiaries at State Secretariat on Monday, the Chief Minister said, “When you join government service, you have to be the ‘sevak’ of the people.”
Asking the beneficiaries to look after dependents of those on whose behalf they had got the government job, Dr Sawant said, “If we receive any complaint, we will take strict action against those who do not look after their dependents because the reason why you are getting this job is compassionate ground, wherein the family has lost its breadwinner, who was a government servant.”
The Chief Minister also asked the beneficiaries to constantly upgrade their skills as that would increase efficiency in the job.
Also present was MLA Prasad Gaonkar.
A total of 74 beneficiaries were given the letters of appointment. The objective of the scheme for compassionate appointment is to grant appointment on compassionate grounds to a dependent family member of a government servant who has died while in service or who is retired on medical grounds before attaining the prescribed age, thereby leaving the family without any means of sustainable livelihood.
