Muzaffarpur AES deaths:SC issues notice to Bihar govt seeking detailed explanation

New Delhi, :  Supreme Court Monday issued notice to the Bihar government seeking its detailed explanation on the death of more than 120 children in Muzaffarpur due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES).
A vacation bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna was hearing the petitions from lawyers, Manohar Pratap and Shiv Kumar Tripathi.
The apex Court Monday issued notice to the Bihar government and directed it to file a detailed response on the steps taken by it to control it.
“Issue notice to Bihar government, one of the respondents in the petition. We will hear the case after we receive the report from the state government,” a bench of the top court said Monday.
The petitioners had moved the Apex Court seeking various directions to the authorities concerned for putting a stop on the deaths taking place.
