Tharoor demands more Siddha units in Kerala

New Delhi,: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor in Lok Sabha on Friday demanded more Siddha medical centers in Kerala.
Asking a question on Siddha Units/Wellness Centres during the Question Hour in Lok Sabha, the Thiruvanthapuram MP said that can Siddha medical centers facilities be increased in Kerala.
Responding to the question of Mr Tharoor, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said there are six Siddha medical institutes in the State and if the demand for increasing Siddha medical centers facilities in Kerala comes before the Central Government, then it will look into it.
In a written reply to the Question in the House that whether the Government has any proposal to set up more Siddha units/wellness centres in Central Government Health Schemes (CGHS) dispensaries across the country for promoting traditional medicines/treatments, the Union Health Minister said at present, there is no proposal to open new Siddha Units/ Wellness Centres under CGHS.
He said three Siddha Wellness Centres, one in Delhi and two in Tamil Nadu are functional under CGHS.
