YSRCP lawmaker Chinta Anuradha takes oath in Hindi

New Delhi, :  Language and Hindi-non Hindi divides have long dominated Indian politics and at times the parliamentary debates too.
But striking a note of exception a first timer Member from Andhra Pradesh Chinta Anuradha on Monday took oath as member of the Lok Sabha in Hindi.
In fact, Ms Anuradha (YSR Congress Party) surprised many in the House when she asked the Table officials for the ‘oath taking’ sheet in Telugu.
Incidentally, the Hindi version offered to her was for male members and as she started reading out the same, she quickly realised that it was the wrong slip and sought for the Hindi version of the it.
Lok Sabha Secretary General Snehlata Shrivastava, however, advised her that for all ‘aa ki matras’, she should read ‘ee’. Ms Shrivastava, however made the Hindi corrections.
In the fiercely contested election, YSRCP led by Y Jagan Mohan Reddy won 22 out of the 25 Lok Sabha seats.
Ms Anuradha represents Amalapuram (SC) reserved constituency.
