New Delhi, : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said the election of 2019 is to save India’s democracy and constitution.
“Ye chunao kisi ko PM banane ke liye nahi, Delhi ko purnrajya banane ke liye hein. Kuch bhi karenge, Delhi ko purnrajya banakar rahenge (This election is not for electing a Prime Minister, but to make Delhi a full state. We will do everything to give Delhi Statehood),” Mr Kejriwal told media here after releasing the party’s manifesto
ahead of the forthcoming elections to seven parliamentary seats in Delhi, promising ‘full statehood’ for Delhi.
‘The election of 2019, is to save India’s democracy and constitution,’ he said.
Stating the benefits of full statehood, the AAP convenor said, “If Delhi gets full statehood, police will be held accountable to public, women safety will improve and 85 per cent students will get into colleges.”
‘If Delhi becomes a full state, then MCD will be under the control of the government, and the national capital will become more clean,’ he said.
‘If Delhi becomes a full-fledged state, it will ensure that all contractual employees become permanent,’ Mr Kejriwal said.
Addressing reporters, senior party leader and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said, “from our manifesto, people will be able to know how the capitals of other countries got the status of full state and all rights are with the elected government there.”
‘If Delhi was a full state, then our Jan Lokpal bill would have been passed,’ Mr Sisodia said.
‘If Delhi becomes a full state, then people’s hard earned money can be used in a better way to develop the state,’ he added.
