SC upholds Madras HC judgement on Rajagopal

New Delhi, Mar 29  :  The Supreme Court on Friday upheld the Madras High court judgement which had convicted and sentenced P Rajagopal, the owner of Saravana restaurant chain, to life term for his involvement in the murder of one of his employees so that he can marry the employee’s wife.
Rajagopal had moved the Apex Court challenging the Madras High Court verdict which had convicted him and sentenced to life term.
A bench of the Top Court, headed by Justice N V Ramanna passed the verdict today against the convict, Rajagopal.
The Apex Court rejected the submissions by Rajagopal that he was not the culprit in the case.
“We dismiss the appeal filed by the convict (Rajagopal) in the case,” the bench of the SC said today, while pronouncing the verdict.
The Apex court convicted Rajagopal under sections 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
