Bar association Srinagar asks members to remain present at Supreme Court on February 20, 21

Srinagar,19,Feb:J&K High Court Bar Association Srinagar on Tuesday asked all the members of its team constituted for opposing the petitions challenging Article 35A and 370 to remain present at the Supreme Court on February 20 and 21 “when the cases are most likely to come up for consideration before the apex court.”

In a statement, it said its two members are already camping in Delhi and are in constant touch with the Advocate-on-Record.

“Other members including Mian Abdul Qayoom, President; Aijaz Bedar, Vice President; Z. A. Shah, Senior Advocate; Z. A. Qureshi, Senior Advocate; R. A. Jan, Senior Advocate; N. A. Ronga, Advocate; M. S. Reshi, Advocate; Rafiq Ahmad Joo, Advocate; Abdul Aziz Teeli, Advocate; Mian Muzaffar, Advocate and Surat Shakeel, Advocate, are leaving for Delhi today,” said the statement.

In a meeting today, the Executive Committee members of the Bar Association expressed their serious concern over the treatment being meted out to the Kashmiri employees working in Jammu and the Kashmiri students and businessmen returning to their homes because of the attacks.

The members while condemning such acts and showing their solidarity with the employees, students and businessmen, demanded that the employees as well as the students and businessmen should be provided safety and security by the concerned authorities and those who are attacking and threatening them should be taken to task.

The Bar Association also appealed to the International Community and conscious members of Indian Civil Society to raise their voice against such atrocities.
