Highlight the enormous damage to health due to tobacco consumption: Vohra

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Governor has called upon the government and public to spread awareness and highlight the enormous damage to health caused by the use of tobacco.
In a message on the “World No Tobacco Day” being observed on May 31 every year Mr Vohra, has called upon the government and public to spread awareness and take all possible initiatives to highlight the enormous damage to health, development and the economy which is caused by the use of tobacco.
This year theme is “Tobacco and heart disease”.
He cautioned that the coming generations must be timely protected from the devastating consequences of tobacco consumption and exposure to tobacco smoke.
Governor observed that besides the need of effectively enforcing all related laws for discouraging the consumption of cigarettes and other tobacco products, it is also necessary to organise workshops, seminars, rallies and similar other initiatives for spreading awareness among the masses about the highly injurious effects of smoking.
He said that it must be made known that a very large number of people die every year due to smoking related diseases.
