Suspected militants lob grenade at NC leader’s residence in Tral

Srinagar: Suspected militants lobbed a rifle grenade at the residence of a senior National Conference (NC) leader at Tral in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Wednesday.
Official sources told UNI that suspected militants hurled a rifle grenade at the residence of NC leader Mohammad Ashraf Bhat in Tral town in Pulwama.
“There was minor damage to the residence though no one was injured in the attack,” they said.
They said the militants managed to escape from the spot during the chaos caused by the blast. Additional security forces were rushed from nearby camps and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers.
Mr Ashraf is the son of former NC legislator Late Muhammad Subhan Bhat.
This is the second grenade attack on Wednesday in Pulwama. Militants hurled a grenade at the joint checkpoint of state police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in village Banora in Pulwama. However no one was injured in the attack.
