India reports 78 deaths, 10,584 new cases of COVID-19

New Delhi, Feb 23:  India on Tuesday recorded 10,584 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, pushing the country caseload to 1,10,16,434, while the death toll soared to 1,56,463 with 78 more fatalities.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the active cases shrank by 2749 to stand at 1,47,306. It is now 1.34 per cent of the total caseload.
The past 24 hours saw 13,255 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 1,07,12,665, which is 97.24 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.42 per cent.
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that a total of 21,22,30,431 lakh samples have been tested so far for coronavirus. Out of this, 6,78,685, were tested on Monday.
