Mirwaiz Lays Foundation Stone for Masjid Bota Shah Sahib

Emphasises Role of Mosques as Centres of Worship, Learning, Social Reform and Inclusion of Women

Srinagar, July 8 : Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, has emphasised that mosques should not only be places of worship but also centres for spreading Islamic teachings, addressing community issues, and nurturing moral and social values.

Laying the foundation stone for the reconstruction of Masjid Bota Shah Sahib at Bota Shah Mohalla, Lal Bazar, Srinagar, Mirwaiz urged local residents, especially the youth, that building mosques is not enough — they must remain vibrant with worship and community participation.

He particularly stressed the need to make proper space for women in mosques, recognising them as the pillars of our families and vital guides for our children’s upbringing. The local community wholeheartedly agreed to ensure arrangements for women within the mosque premises.

Mirwaiz appreciated the locals’ dedication and prayed that the reconstruction is completed promptly and serves its true purpose. On his arrival, he was warmly received by the mosque committee, residents, and youth of the area.
