Gulmarg Winter Festival – 2021

Srinagar, Feb 2021. As Kashmir emerges from the shadow of COVID & enters a new era of peace & development, a two days mega cultural extravaganza was organized by Indian Army along with the J&K Tourism Department to provide a platform to the local youth to showcase their talents.

            The extravaganza was full of adventure activities & the highlights were Skiing, Snow mobile, ATV race & Snow cycling. Apart from this cultural performances by renowned artists of Kashmir mesmerised the audience with their spell bound performances. Display of local cuisines & handicrafts made the event more than perfect.

            Bollywood came together in this endeavor and Mr Arbaaz Khan along with Ms Vidya Balan supported the efforts of Indian Army & inspired the local talents. The highlights of today’s event were Ms Vidya Balan grooving on the tunes of Bollywood music, dialogue delivery by Mr Arbaaz Khan and tongue twisting by Mr Siddhart Roy Kapoor. Other notable artists who made this event a mega success were Altmash Faridi, Aabid Aly, Shafi Sopori, Zubair Khan, Waseem Ahmed, Umer Rockband, Waqar Khan, Shazia Bashir. These artists did splendid performances on various peppy Bollywood numbers to woo the crowd.

            The event was organised after two years and aptly announced the re-opening of Kashmir to the world. Indian Army has always maintained a great connect with the local people & this is yet another instance of Army supporting the aspirations of Awaam for a future of hope, prosperity & peace in the valley. The event is likely to provide a fillip to the tourism in the valley & support the Kashmiri people whose livelihood has been impacted adversely due to COVID pandemic.

            The event concluded with a vote of thanks by GOC 19 Infantry Division, where he congratulated everyone involved in the historic event & assured that Indian Army is committed towards endorsing the progress & prosperity of people of valley & will continue supporting the dreams & aspirations of all Kashmiri in all possible manner.
