ADC Ganderbal flags off group of orchardists for one-day exposure tour

GANDERBAL, JANUARY 02: A group of 40 Orchardists, drawn from Kangan and Ganderbal zones of district Ganderbal, was today flagged off for one-day exposure cum training tour by Additional Deputy Commissioner
Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba.

The tour has been organized under Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme.The orchardists will visit SKUAST-K where they will be imparted training regarding basics of nursery management and standard propagation techniques, importance of high density plantation, protected cultivation,organic farming and other latest Horticulture development techniques to alleviate poverty and double farmer’s income.

While interacting with the Orchardists, the ADC highlighted theimportance of Horticulture and impressed upon the orchardists to interact with the scientists, experts and extension functionaries to enhance their technical skills in the field of integrated horticulture farming and to adopt the advanced technology for cultivation of latest, hybrid and high yielding fruit trees.
Chief Horticulture Officer, Ganderbal and other officials of the department were present on the occasion.
