Bharat Bandh live updates: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal put under house arrest, claims AAP.

Farmers protesting against the Centre’s agricultural sector laws have called for Bharat Bandh today after several rounds of talks with the government over the new farm laws remained inconclusive.

Opposition parties, which are in office in Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, Bengal, Kerala, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Puducherry are backing the bandh.

CM met farmers at Singhu border yesterday. He had said that we’ll serve them like ‘Sevadars’ and support them. After he returned, Delhi Police barricaded his residence from all sides, putting him in a house-arrest like situation, at the behest of Home Ministry: Saurabh Bharadwaj, AAP

The Bharat Bandh called on by farmers associations evoked partial response in Madurai city. All the shops were shut in some of the places, while they functioned as usual in most of the areas. Public transportaion is operated as usual.
