Rahul Reacts Sharply to PM Modi’s Statement, Says “These Are Proofs of Government Failure, Not Advice”

New Delhi, May 11: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, strongly criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his recent address, saying that advising people to sacrifice and cut down expenses reflects the government’s failure.

In a statement posted on social media, Rahul Gandhi said, “Modi ji yesterday asked the public to make sacrifices – do not buy gold, do not travel abroad, use less petrol, reduce the use of fertilizers and cooking oil, travel by metro, and work from home. This is not advice, but evidence of the government’s failure.”

He alleged that during the last 12 years, the country’s economy and the condition of ordinary citizens have deteriorated to such an extent that the government is now telling people what they should buy and what they should not. Rahul Gandhi said that every time, the responsibility is shifted onto the public so that the government can avoid accountability.

Targeting the Prime Minister, the Congress leader said, “Running the country is no longer within the Prime Minister’s capability.”

In fact, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the nation, had emphasized energy conservation, self-reliance, and responsible citizenship. The Prime Minister had said, “Fighting for the country alone is not patriotism; living for the country and fulfilling one’s duties is also patriotism.”

He appealed to people to reduce the use of petrol and diesel, make greater use of public transport like metro services, promote electric vehicles, and once again adopt work from home, online conferencing, and virtual meetings. Along with this, the Prime Minister also urged people to avoid purchasing gold.

Following this statement by the Prime Minister, political confrontation between Indian National Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party has intensified.
