  • Srinagar, 27 Feb 2021. A National Cadet Corps Day Annual Training Camp (ATC) was organized by 3 Jammu &Kashmir Batallion NCC, Baramulla from 23 to 27 Feb 2021 in  Baramulla Army Camp. This camp was organized under the aegis of Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh Directorate NCC, Group Headquarters, Srinagar  with assistance of the “Dagger Division”. This is a unique feat for Baramulla as the NCC Camp is being held there after a gap of 20 years. This is second camp in the valley post the successful conduct of NCC Camp at Uri in Oct 2020.

As many as 30 (Senior/Junior Division) NCC cadets participated from Schools and Colleges of Baramulla, Sopore, Haigam & Delina alongwith one ANO and supporting staff from Baramulla Division.

In these difficult times, when no schools and colleges are functioning in totality, NCC came forward in clearing and paving way for undertaking vigorous activities in the Camp. The Cadets of the area around Baramulla were earlier deprived of regular NCC training. The Camp has enabled smooth training and made cadets eligible for NCC B & C certificates examination as also bring in them the confidence of attending day camp in Baramulla after a long gap of 20 years.

Block Medical Officer Baramulla had conducted Rapid Antigen Test and gave rigorous training while strictly adhering to various precaution guidelines against COVID-19 to the cadets. The cadets underwent basic training like Physical Training, Drill, Weapon Training, Firing, Map Reading and grooming to instill confidence. To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of 1971 Indo-Pak War, activities like Quiz, Painting & showcasing of patriotic movies were also conducted. The cadets were exposed to lectures by decorated army officers and guest speakers. Road safety aspects & Swatch Bharat Abhiyan was also covered during the camp.

Brigadier Prashant Halgeri, Deputy GOC, Baramulla Division visited the camp on 27 Feb 2021 where he was given a Guard of Honour by the cadets. Thereafter, he inspected the training norms being followed in the Camp. Deputy GOC Dagger Division  gave a motivational talk & interacted with cadets over a cup of tea. He also felicitated meritorious cadets. The Camp was a huge success in these difficult times and paved way as to how the activities are to be conducted in the backdrop of COVID 19 pandemic.
