Terrorism is humanity’s greatest enemy, HM Amit Shah on Pahalgam attack anniversary

New Delhi, Apr 22: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday paid tributes to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, saying the nation continues to share the grief of the families who lost their loved ones in the incident.

In a post on X, HM Shah as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said, “On this day, we solemnly remember the innocent lives we lost in the horrific Pahalgam terror attack last year. The grief and pain of losing our people still remain in the hearts of every Indian.”

“Terrorism is the greatest enemy of humanity, against which we must stand united to fight and defeat. India will continue its zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and those who harbour it,” he said.

The attack on April 22, 2025, in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam was among the deadliest civilian-targeted incidents in Jammu and Kashmir in recent years.

Within two weeks of the attack, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, carrying out precision missile and air strikes targeting nine terror launchpads and infrastructure facilities in Pakistan-administered territory.

Pertainly, the operation marked a significant escalation in India’s counter-terror response, involving over 100 aircraft in what was described as a major stand-off aerial engagement between the two nuclear-armed neighbours in recent years. Later, a ceasefire was later reached on May 10, 2025.—(KNO)
