
Srinagar, March 26: Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Counter Intelligence Kashmir is conducting raids at multiple locations across the Valley in connection with a terror module linked to Pakistan-based militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba, officials said on Thursday.
The searches were carried out by CIK at 10 locations in the districts of Srinagar, Shopian and Ganderbal as part of a fresh terror investigation case registered at Police Station CIK.
Officials said the raids were conducted after obtaining search warrants from a competent court and were still underway when the last reports came in. According to details, six locations were searched in Ganderbal district, three in Shopian district and one location in Srinagar district.
The investigation pertains to a transnational terror module allegedly being directed by Shabir Ahmad Lone, a Lashkar-e-Taiba operator originally from Kangan area of Ganderbal who is currently based in Bangladesh.
The module was reportedly receiving instructions from LeT handlers operating from Bangladesh and Pakistan, officials said.
Officials said the searches were aimed at collecting evidence, including digital devices, documents and other materials linked to the terror network.
Further investigation in the case is underway.
