Jammu, March 25,: Shooting stones and debris fell along a tunnel stretch on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on Wednesday, forcing authorities to close one tube for clearance operations, officials said.
The incident occurred near Karol and the cafeteria zone, where falling debris blocked part of the roadway, prompting immediate safety measures.
Officials said restoration work was launched soon after the incident, with teams deployed to clear the affected stretch and assess the stability of the area.
Despite the disruption, traffic movement has been maintained in both directions through the other operational tube, ensuring connectivity along the strategic highway.
Authorities have advised commuters to follow traffic instructions and exercise caution while passing through the affected section as clearance work continues.
The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway is a critical all-weather link connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country and is frequently affected by landslides and shooting stones, particularly during adverse weather conditions. [KNT]
