Rs: 40 crore heroin recovered in suspected drone drop near IB in R S Pura

Jammu :As part of breakthrough against cross-border drug trafficking, Jammu Police in joint operation with 165 Battalion BSF recovered 6.582 kilograms of heroin worth approximately rupees 40 crore from wheat fields in the R S Pura sector near the International Border.

The narcotics, suspected to have been dropped by a drone from across the border, were seized during a late-night cordon and search operation on February 13–14, 2026.

In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said a significant achievement on Anti-drug trafficking front,Jammu Police along with 165Bn BSF, achieved a major breakthrough, recovering huge quantity of narcotics (Suspected Drone Dropping) worth 40 Crores in R S Pura sector of District Jammu near International border.

He said, as acting promptly on inputs by 165 Bn BSF regarding suspicious drone activity near International border, a Cordon and search operation was launched jointly by Jammu Police and 165 Bn BSF during the intervening night of 13/14-02-2026 at Nai Basti Karotana, Baspur area of R S Pura sector near International border.

“During search at first light,two yellow coloured packets of narcotics were recovered from the Wheat fields atNai Basti Karotana, the area is near international border and it is suspected to be drone dropping from Pakistan in the Indian Territory.”

The spokesperson said, each packet appeared to contain heroin like substance, recovery memo has also been prepared in presence of magistrate, the recovered packets contain appropriately 6.582 kg Heroin like substance worth rupees 40 Crores in the international market.

“In this regard case FIR No. 36/2026 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act and investigation of case take up by SHO Police Station R.S Pura,Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar assisted by Incharge BPP Baspura,SI Ranbir Singh under the supervision of SP Headquarters Jammu,” said the spokesperson.

He said, further investigation is underway to trace the exact source and destination of the recovered contraband. Police is thoroughly examining both the backward and forward linkages in the case and more breakthrough’s are expected.

“Jammu Police urges citizens to come forward with any information regarding illegal drug activities in their localities including those residing near International border.With continued public cooperation, sincere efforts are being made to build a drug-free and crime-free society,” the spokesperson said further.—(KNO)
