NC welcomes Indo-Pak DGMO level talks, hope ceasefire is followed in letter & spirit

Srinagar, Feb 25 : Welcoming the Director General of Military Operation (DGMO) level talks between India and Pakistan, the National Conference (NC) on Thursday expressed hope that the joint statement from both sides will be followed in letter and spirit.
The NC has always been a strong supporter of the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB), said a tweet on official account of the party Thursday afternoon. The tweet was re-tweeted by former Chief Minister and NC Vice President (VP) Omar Abdullah.

The party tweet said, “ We welcome it and hope that the statement will be followed in letter & spirit. JKNC has always been a strong supporter of the ceasefire along the LoC. This will allow people living along the LoC & IB to go about their normal lives with minimal disruption & risk”.

The NC was reacting to joint statement that both sides (India and Pak) agreed for strict observance of all agreements, understandings and cease firing along the Line of Control and all other sectors with effect from midnight February 24/25, 2021.

India and Pakistan had agreed for a ceasefire on LoC and IB in 2003 in the Jammu and Kashmir. However, the ceasefire was violated several thousand times by Pakistani troops claiming the lives of dozens of people on both sides of the LoC.
