‘Sorry, Papa. Korea is our life…’: Heartbreaking diary note of 3 sisters reveals tragic obsession with Korean games, leaving family in tears

“Sorry, papa. I am feeling very, very alone” — these were the final words of three sisters who allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the ninth floor of their residential building in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad. The incident took place around 2 am on Wednesday.

It was initially believed that the suicide of the three sisters – aged 12, 14, and 16 – was linked to the yet-to-identified task-based Korean online gaming app, which the girls were addicted to. However, police sources, speaking to India Today TV, ruled out such an angle and said the victims expressed their love for Korean culture in their diary.

Police sources also said that the parents, who are not financially well off, had objected to their daughters watching such content and took away their phones, prompting the victims to take the extreme step.

The girls’ father, Chetan Kumar, who has been married twice and has five children, including his three daughters who died, told India Today TV that he thought they were playing ludo on their phones. Of the three victims, two of them were the daughters of the man’s second wife, while one was the daughter from his first marriage.

In their diary, the girls wrote that they loved Korean culture and mentioned their likings, such as K-Pop culture, Korean movies, Korean music, Korean short films, Korean shows and Korean series.

SUICIDE NOTE FOUND

A note was found in the victims’ room, with a crying emoji, which read, “A true life story. Is diary mein jo kuch bhi likha hain, woh sab padh lo, kyunki ye sab sach hain. (Whatever you are seeing in this diary, read everything, because everything is true) Read now! I am really sorry, sorry papa.
