Mukesh Singh takes over as Director General of Police, Ladakh

Leh, Jan 16,: Senior Indian Police Service officer Mukesh Singh on Friday assumed charge as the Director General of Police of Ladakh.

Mukesh Singh, a 1996-batch IPS officer, formally took charge as DGP Ladakh during the afternoon, officials said. His appointment comes at a time when the region continues to focus on strengthening law enforcement, border management and internal security mechanisms.

The newly appointed DGP brings with him a vast and diverse policing experience spanning several key assignments in Jammu and Kashmir and central armed police forces. Over the years, he has served in crucial positions including Additional Director General in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Additional Director General Jammu, Inspector General ITBP, Inspector General Jammu, Inspector General Crime Jammu and Kashmir, and Inspector General in the National Investigation Agency.

Mukesh Singh has also served as Senior Superintendent of Police in various districts of Jammu and Kashmir, where he handled law and order, counter-insurgency operations and crime management during challenging phases.
A top police official told the news gency Kashmir News Trust that his extensive experience in border security, internal security and criminal investigation is expected to strengthen the overall functioning of Ladakh Police, particularly given the region’s strategic importance and unique geographical challenges.

The Ladakh Police fraternity welcomed the new DGP, expressing confidence that his leadership would further enhance professionalism, coordination and operational efficiency across the force. [KNT]
