Fake Ticket Incident at Airport Leads to Detention of Travel Agent in Budgam

Budgam:Budgam Police have initiated a detailed investigation after a man was found carrying a fake air ticket at Srinagar International Airport on Friday, with preliminary findings showing that he had been duped by a travel agent who has now been detained for questioning.

The man, from Bugro, Khansahib, was stopped during routine checking at the airport drop gate when security personnel flagged discrepancies in his travel document. Airline staff confirmed that the ticket presented was forged, following which the passenger was handed over to Police Post Humhama.

Officials said early investigation indicates that the man purchased the ticket through a travel agent who allegedly provided him with fabricated travel documents. The travel agent has been detained and is currently being questioned to trace the source of the forgery and identify any possible wider network.

Police said the case involves violations under sections 336(2) and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A formal case has been registered at Police Station Budgam, and further investigation is underway to determine the extent of fraud and any additional persons involved. [KNT]
