Egg Safety Concerns Trigger Calls for Testing of Bakery Products, Consumers Seek Clarity on Safety of Egg-Based Bakery Items

Bakery Products

Srinagar, Dec 13,: Concerns over the safety of eggs found to be unfit for consumption have raised wider questions about the safety of bakery products that extensively use eggs as a key ingredient, triggering unease among consumers across the region.

Locals have expressed apprehension that if eggs circulating in the market are unsafe, bakery items prepared using the same raw material could also pose potential health risks. Cakes, pastries, biscuits, and other commonly consumed bakery products are largely dependent on eggs, making the issue a matter of public concern.

Food safety experts and concerned citizens have stressed that regulatory authorities have a critical responsibility to intervene promptly. They have called for comprehensive inspections of bakeries and systematic testing of egg-based bakery products to determine whether they comply with established food safety standards.

According to consumers, the issue is not limited to the quality of eggs alone but extends to the overall monitoring of food preparation practices in bakeries. They have urged food safety departments to verify sourcing, storage conditions, and handling of eggs used in commercial food preparation.

Several locals said that a lack of timely information and official clarification has added to confusion and anxiety. They demanded transparent communication from authorities regarding inspection results and corrective measures, if any, to prevent the spread of unsafe food items in the market.

Experts have underlined that regular sampling and laboratory testing of bakery products are essential to rule out contamination and protect public health. They added that visible enforcement measures would help restore consumer confidence and discourage negligent practices.

Consumers have appealed to the concerned departments to take immediate action, ensure accountability, and publicly share findings of inspections. They maintain that safeguarding food safety is essential not only for public health but also for maintaining trust between consumers, businesses, and regulatory bodies. [KNT]
