Srinagar:PDP women wing on Monday held a protest in Srinagar against the proposed electricity tariff hike, alleging that the heavy bills generated through smart meters have created severe financial distress for locals. The protesters gathered outside the party headquarters and raised slogans demanding immediate relief for consumers.
Speaking to reporters, the PDP women wing members said the rising power bills have become increasingly difficult for households to manage. They alleged that the National Conference government failed to deliver on its election promises, particularly the assurance of providing free electricity to the public.
The protesters accused the Omar Abdullah led government of misleading the people and not addressing the growing concerns related to power tariffs and billing practices. They said the administration should take urgent steps to ease the burden on ordinary consumers instead of escalating their hardships. [KNT]
