Police Register Case After Recovering Illegally Stored Petroleum Products

Awantipora, Nov 22,: Police in Awantipora on Saturday seized a large quantity of illegally stored petroleum products during a raid conducted on specific information.

Officials said the raid was carried out at the residence of Muhammad Shafi Rather, a native of Malangpora presently residing at Sonrigund. During the search, the police team recovered approximately 950 litres of diesel and 800 litres of kerosene that had been stored unlawfully at the location.

Police said the material was seized on the spot and a case was registered at Police Station Awantipora. The case has been taken up under FIR number 256 of 2025 for offences related to illegal storage of petroleum products.

Awantipora Police urged the public to report any acts that violate safety regulations, saying such activities pose serious risks and will be dealt with firmly. [KNT]
