Midnight Blaze Damages Houses in Old Fateh Kadal, Fireman Injured

Srinagar, Nov 5,: A midnight fire broke out in the Old Fateh Kadal area in Srinagar, damaging multiple residential houses before being brought under control by the Fire and Emergency Services Department.

Officials said after receiving information fire tenders from Babdem station, were the first to respond. Soon after, additional reinforcement was dispatched from Headquarters, Shaheed Gunj, Habba Kadal, and Safa Kadal stations.

According to Fire and Emergency Services officials, three residential houses were gutted in the blaze. “The fire was brought under control after hard efforts,” said an official, adding that timely action by the firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to adjoining structures.

One firefighter, identified as Muhammad Rafiq (LFM-1315) from Shaheed Gunj station, sustained injuries during the operation and was evacuated to hospital.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known, though police have registered a case to ascertain the cause of the fire. [KNT]
