Biker Killed, Another Injured in Kupwara Road Accident

Kupwara: A motorcyclist was killed while another person sustained injuries in a road accident at Kunan Poshpora area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday morning.

Reports said the accident occurred on the Kunan Poshpora road, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Trehgam, when a tipper (JK04-7965) collided with a motorcycle.

In the mishap, the biker identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Gani Lone, a local of Kunan, died on the spot. Another person riding pillion, identified as Faisal Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Abdullah Dar, also a local resident of Kunan, sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident, and the vehicle involved has been seized.

Locals of the area expressed concern over frequent road mishaps on the stretch and urged the authorities to ensure stricter speed control and better road safety measures. [KNT]
