Kulgam: Police in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district have arrested a drug peddler and recovered a considerable quantity of contraband substances from his possession during a naka checking operation at Khudwani Bypass.
A police spokesperson said that a team from Police Station Qaimoh had set up a checkpoint at Khudwani Bypass when a suspicious person, upon noticing the police presence, tried to flee from the spot. The alert police personnel chased and apprehended him after a brief pursuit.
During the search, officers recovered around 09 grams of Charas and 01 kilogram of a grinded cannabis-like substance from his possession. The accused was arrested on the spot and taken into custody.
Police have registered a case under FIR No. 82/2025 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Qaimoh. An investigation has been initiated to trace the source of the contraband and identify possible links in the drug supply network.
Kulgam Police reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward drug abuse and trafficking, urging locals to cooperate with law enforcement agencies. [KNT]
