Policeman Found Dead in Rajouri, Probe Ordered

Rajouri: A policeman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, officials said on Friday. The deceased, identified as Constable Shubam Choudhary, was posted in Poonch and had been returning from Nowshera town to his native village when the incident took place.

Officials said Choudhary’s body was recovered during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.  “The body was spotted and subsequently shifted for medico-legal formalities. A postmortem is being conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death,” an official said.

The constable’s sudden demise has triggered a probe, with authorities stating that all angles are being investigated. Senior officers visited the spot and reviewed the initial findings before directing a thorough inquiry.

Police sources said the outcome of the postmortem examination will guide further investigation. “The cause of death will only be established after the medical report. We are pursuing all possible leads,” said the official. [KNT]
