Sopore Police Crack Theft Case, Recover Mobile Handset and Cash Within Hours

Sopore: Sopore Police on Tuesday said that it had successfully cracked a theft case within 24 hours of its reporting, recovering both a stolen mobile handset and cash. The breakthrough, which came after a focused investigation and prompt action, marks the second such recovery in the town in just two days, underscoring the police’s emphasis on quick detection and safeguarding public property.

Police sources said that the case was registered after a complaint was filed at Police Post Bus Stand Sopore on September 29. The complainant reported the theft of a mobile phone along with cash, following which a formal case under FIR No. 204/2025 was lodged at Police Station Sopore. Investigators began working immediately, piecing together leads and deploying personnel to track down the culprit.

The probe soon led to the arrest of one individual identified as Firdous Mohiudin Shah, son of Ghulam Mohiudin Shah, a resident of Sidique Colony Sopore. According to police officials, the accused was taken in for questioning and during sustained interrogation admitted his role in the theft. Based on his disclosure, the stolen handset and cash were recovered, bringing the case to a close.

A senior police officer in Sopore told Kashmir News Trust that the speed of the recovery was as significant as the recovery itself. “Every theft case matters because it directly affects the ordinary citizen. The quick turnaround shows that the police machinery is alert, responsive, and determined to deliver justice swiftly,” the officer remarked.

The official further noted that this was the second theft case solved by Sopore Police within 24 hours, adding that the back-to-back recoveries. [KNT]
