PDD Lineman Injured After Fall from Electric Pole in Kupwara

Handwara:A Power Development Department (PDD) daily wager sustained serious injuries on Friday after he fell from an electric pole while repairing a fault in the Safalpora area of Kralgund, Kupwara district.

Police identified the injured as Gawher Ahmad Khan, aged 45, son of Abdul Ahad Khan, a local of Hajin Qaziabad. Khan, who has been working as a lineman on daily wages, was reportedly on duty when the incident occurred. According to locals, he lost his balance and fell from the pole, sustaining multiple injuries.

Eyewitnesses said the lineman had climbed the pole without proper safety equipment. “He was repairing a fault when suddenly he slipped and fell. People rushed towards him and immediately shifted him to the nearby Community Health Centre (CHC) Kralgund,” said a local who was present at the spot.

Doctors at CHC Kralgund provided first aid but later referred him to District Hospital Handwara for specialized treatment due to the severity of his injuries.

Police officials confirmed that cognisance of the incident has been taken, and further investigation is underway. [KNT]
