Labourer Critically Injured in Electrocution Incident at MR Gung Receiving Station

Srinagar: A labourer sustained critical injuries after suffering an electric shock while working at the MR Gung Receiving Station in Srinagar on Wednesday.

According to officials, the incident occurred when the labourer came in contact with a live wire during maintenance work. He was immediately rushed to SMHS Hospital Srinagar where doctors described his condition as critical.

The injured has been identified as 60-year-old Abdul Rashid Parry, son of Abdul Aziz, a resident of Lassipora Drang Khag in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

An employee at the receiving station confirmed that the victim was engaged in routine work when he accidentally received the electric shock. “It was sudden and severe. He collapsed on the spot and we immediately shifted him to hospital,” the employee said.

Hospital sources said doctors are monitoring the patient closely and he remains under critical care.

Police have taken note of the incident, while officials are examining the circumstances that led to the accident. [KNT]
