Holiday or not, we will continue to honour Sher-e-Kashmir: NC’s Nasir Aslam Wani

Srinagar:The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Monday observed the 43rd death anniversary of party founder and former Chief Minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah at his mausoleum in Naseem Bagh, Srinagar.

Party president Dr Farooq Abdullah, along with senior leaders, workers and supporters, offered floral tributes at Qaid Mazar and remembered the role of Sher-e-Kashmir in shaping the political and social landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to media persons on the occasion, Advisor to the Chief Minister and NC leader Nasir Aslam Wani said the day was a reminder of Sheikh Abdullah’s lifelong struggle for the rights and dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “We are remembering our leader today. For generations, we have been honouring his sacrifices, and we can never forget them. The very existence of the people of Jammu and Kashmir is because of the vision and struggle of Sher-e-Kashmir,” he said.

Wani stressed that the National Conference would continue to commemorate the day irrespective of whether or not it is declared an official holiday. “It is our duty to remember him and all those elders who gave their lives for us. This party was created in the spirit of public service, not for the sake of power. Our prayer is that Allah grants us the ability to serve our people in the best possible way,” he added.

Senior leaders of the party reiterated that Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s political journey and sacrifices would continue to inspire generations to work for the welfare of the people. [KNT]
