Massive Fire Damages 20 Structures in Gurez’s Tulail Area

Bandipora, Aug 30,: A massive fire broke out in the remote Tulail area of Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, damaging around 20 structures before it was brought under control, officials said on Saturday.

According to the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) Department, the fire erupted at Kashpath Tulail, a border village with limited road access and no consistent telecommunication facilities, which delayed the flow of information and response.

Fire Station Tulail was the first to respond, with water tenders rushed to the spot. Firefighters also utilized a nearby water source to strengthen firefighting efforts. As the flames spread rapidly, reinforcements from Fire Station Dawar, Gurez, were dispatched under the command of Bandipora authorities.

“Approximately 20 structures have been involved in the blaze. Our teams from Tulail and Dawar worked tirelessly and managed to bring the fire under control,” a senior fire officer told KNT.

The remote location of the incident, coupled with weak communication networks, posed major challenges for coordination during the firefighting and rescue operations. Despite the difficulties, officials confirmed that the fire has now been contained, preventing further spread to adjoining habitations.

Details about the cause of the fire and the extent of damage to property are being ascertained. Authorities are also verifying if there has been any loss of life or injuries. [KNT]
