CRPF Vehicle Falls Into Gorge in Udhampur; Casualties Feared

Udhampur, August 7: A CRPF vehicle has met with a serious accident in the Kandva–Basantgarh area of Udhampur district. The vehicle reportedly fell into a deep gorge, and eyewitnesses fear heavy casualties among the jawans onboard.

Rescue operations have been launched immediately, with locals voluntarily assisting in the efforts.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh confirmed the incident in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating:

“Disturbing to receive the news of a road accident involving a CRPF vehicle in the Kandva–Basantgarh area. The vehicle was carrying several brave jawans of the CRPF… Rescue measures have been initiated immediately. Locals have voluntarily come forward to assist.”

He further added that DC Saloni Rai is personally monitoring the situation and keeping him updated.
