Eviction Proceedings Completed, Hotel Nedou’s Gulmarg Handed Over to GDA

Gulmarg: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has formally handed over the possession of Hotel Nedou’s in Gulmarg to the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA) following successful eviction proceedings carried out under the Jammu & Kashmir Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act, 1988.

The eviction was executed on August 4, 2025, as per the directives communicated via letter No. CEO/GDA/1621-25 dated 01.08.2025. The Assistant Director Tourism, Gulmarg, in strict compliance with the legal framework, oversaw the eviction and securing of the premises in the presence of key officials, including the Chief Executive Officer of GDA, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Tangmarg, Tehsildar Tangmarg, SDPO Tangmarg, Station House Officers of Gulmarg and Kunzar, and officials from the Tourism Department.

The premises were found vacated by the occupants at the time of execution, and lawful possession was duly taken over by the authorities. The Tourism Department has specified that henceforth, all responsibilities concerning Hotel Nedou’s, including inventory management, property maintenance, security arrangements, and other administrative tasks, will be managed by the Gulmarg Development Authority.

Officials emphasized that the eviction was carried out in accordance with the legal provisions, ensuring transparency and due process. The final handover of custody and physical possession of the property marks a crucial administrative step in the government’s ongoing efforts to regulate public premises and ensure lawful occupation.

The communication has been circulated to higher authorities including the Financial Commissioner (ACS) Tourism Department, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, District Magistrate Baramulla, Director Tourism Kashmir, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Tangmarg for their information and further necessary action.
