Alleged bovine smugglers assaulted police officer in Jammu region

Bishna, Feb 15, KNT: A police officer was allegedly assaulted by a group of people who according to police were smuggling bovines illegally.

The incident occurred in Lalyana area of Ranbir Singh Pora area of Jammu region.

Police sources told KNT that on specific information about cattle smuggling, a team from Police Station Bishnah led by Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Tahir Yousuf rushed to Lalyana area.

The police team was attacked by bovines’ smugglers, in which SHO received head injuries.

Confirming the incident SDPO RS Pura Shabir Khan said that bovine smugglers managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of the darkness.

He said SHO was shifted to SDH Bishnah and later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for advanced treatment.

“A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Bishnah and hunt has been launched to nab the attackers”, he added. (KNT)
