High-Level Delegation Meets Director Food to Discuss Employee Concerns

Srinagar:A high-level delegation from the Food and Supplies Employees Association Kashmir, led by President Ajaz Khan, met with Dr. Owais Ahmad (IAS), Director Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Department, Kashmir. The delegation comprised Senior Vice President Abdul Qayoom Beigh, Convener Muneer Phalgaroo, Vice President Shahnawaz Ahanger, and General Secretary Feroz Najar.

Key Issues Discussed:

The delegation held a detailed discussion on several pressing issues concerning the department’s workforce, including:

1. Reorganization of the Department: Streamlining the department’s structure to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
2. Placement of Storekeepers as Tehsil Supply Officers (TSOs): Addressing pending staffing and role adjustments in OPG.
3. Revival of the Enforcement Wing: Enhancing oversight and ensuring compliance to support departmental objectives.
4. Rationalization of Field Staff: Optimal deployment and workload balance to ensure efficient service delivery.
5. Timely Procurement of Stationery and Essential Supplies: Supporting smooth departmental functioning through timely procurement.
6. Resolution of Pay Anomalies: Ensuring fair and uniform compensation across the board.

Outcome of the Meeting:

Dr. Owais Ahmad, Director Food, gave the delegation a patient and sympathetic hearing, promptly issuing directives for the immediate redressal of several concerns. The Association expressed deep appreciation for his responsive approach and conveyed strong confidence in his leadership, expressing hope for the timely resolution of all pending issues.

The meeting demonstrated the department’s commitment to addressing the concerns of its workforce and improving its overall functioning. The Association’s efforts to engage with the Director Food have yielded positive results, and it is expected that the department will take concrete steps to address the issues raised.
