BSF Launches Search Operation Along RS Pura Border in Jammu Amid Infiltration Alert

Jammu:In response to suspected infiltration attempts and heightened cross-border activity, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday launched a massive search operation along the International Border (IB) in the RS Pura sector of Jammu. The operation was triggered after inputs suggested movement of armed infiltrators attempting to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir under the cover of darkness.

According to BSF officials, the operation began late last night and continued through the early hours of Thursday. Troops carried out coordinated searches in the forward villages, agricultural fields, and dense vegetation near the border fence. An infiltration alert was also issued across the RS Pura and Arnia sectors, prompting night patrolling and intensified surveillance measures.

Senior officials confirmed the deployment of additional personnel, dog squads, and thermal imaging equipment to monitor any movement across the border. Drone surveillance was also pressed into service to aid ground troops in scanning difficult terrain. The heightened activity comes amid ongoing concerns over attempts by militants to exploit vulnerable stretches of the border to infiltrate ahead of upcoming national events and festivals.

Villagers residing near the zero line were advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement to the nearest security post. Though no contact or exchange of fire was reported during the search, officials maintained that the alert status would continue for the coming days.

An official told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that all border outposts have been put on maximum alert and that coordination with other intelligence and security agencies has been strengthened to ensure a robust multi-tiered defense mechanism.

The RS Pura sector has historically been one of the most sensitive stretches of the IB in Jammu, often witnessing ceasefire violations and infiltration bids. [KNT]
